Southwest renamed its fare tiers in 2026: Basic (formerly Wanna Get Away), Choice (formerly Wanna Get Away Plus), Choice Preferred (formerly Anytime), and Choice Extra (formerly Business Select). Southwest ended its long-standing free checked-bag policy for most travelers in 2025. Two free checked bags remain included on Choice Extra fares and for A-List Preferred members; A-List members and eligible Rapid Rewards credit cardholders generally get one free bag. Everyone else pays standard checked-bag fees, with additional charges for overweight or oversized bags. A carry-on bag and personal item stay free on every fare.
